Abstract

A young feline was treated at the hospital of a university in the state of São Paulo, whit physical and phenotypic characteristics that referred to diseases related to development. Among the possible diseases, lysosomal storage disorders and congenital hypthyroidism were considered as the main differential diagnoses. Storage disorders are genetic and hereditary alterations that constitute a series of failures in molecular and metabolic processes culminating in chronic and progressive disorders. Hypothyroidism a disease related to failure of hormone production of the thyroid glands is more common in canines, however in felines when presented in the congenital form it has the signs chacteristics and clinical signs very similar to storage disorders. Also presenting phenotypic and physical dysfunctions of chronic and progressive aspect in young individuals. Using radiographic images as a reference and a complete and detaild anamnesis, it was possible to outline mucopolysaccharidosis as the main clinical suspicion. Thus, the objective of this article is to report radiographic changes in a feline with suspected mucopolysaccharidosis and to contribute to a greater literature on this disorder by veterinarians.
