Abstract
Congenital pericardial hernia (PPHD) consists of an anatomical anomaly that communicates the pericardium to the peritoneum. Clinical signs depend on the severity of the defect and the herniated organs, with spleen, liver, intestine and pancreas close to the pericardium. The diagnosis is made with chest radiography and echocardiography, which allows visualization of herniated structures adjacent to the heart. Surgery treatment is simple and effective, with a good prognosis for the animal. The aim of this study is to report a case of pericardial peritoneum hernia in a 7-month-old female dog. Peritoneal pericardial hernia is an easy condition to be diagnosed using imaging tests and has a good prognosis.
